Point to Jesus

October 18, 2026

Jesus’ earliest disciples didn’t have a blueprint for how to be a Christian, so He made it simple. Be who I made you to be: the salt of the earth and the light of the world. It’s a posture that’s contagious and courageous. Because the question isn’t: “HOW do I become a better Christian?” Instead, it’s “NOW that this is already true of me, what does it look like to stop hiding it?” See what changes when you trade “HOW” for “NOW”.

Wait, What Are We Singing? – Week 4

October 18, 2026

What does it mean to rightly distinguish Law and Gospel? In this final class of the session, Dr. Evatt looks at Matthias Loy’s paired hymns “The Law of God Is Good and Wise” and “The Gospel Shows the Father’s Grace,” showing that God’s law is not bad in itself but a good gift that the Psalms delight in. He walks through the three kinds of Old Testament law (moral, ceremonial, and civil) and the three uses of the law: as a mirror, a curb, and a guide. He also warns against two opposite errors: Pelagianism, which says we can earn salvation by keeping the law, and Antinomianism, which says Christians no longer need the law at all. The class closes with the hymn “Lord, Thee I Love with All My Heart,” a picture of the Gospel freeing us to live out God’s law in joyful service to our neighbor.

Show & Tell – Week 4

October 18, 2026

How can evangelism become a habit instead of a headache? In this final class of the evangelism series, Pastor Hemenway reminds us that even seasoned evangelists get nervous, and that God’s way of witnessing takes the pressure off. Working through 1 Thessalonians 2, he shows how Paul’s boldness came from God, not from himself, and was paired with genuine love and care for the people he served. Drawing on advice from his seminary advisor to “let the game come to you, and be ready when it does,” he looks at how we can prepare as a congregation through welcoming worship and authentic care, and as individuals by trusting the power of God’s Word. Evangelism isn’t about our performance; it’s about pointing others to Jesus.
