Originally from Maple City, Michigan, Stephen Wurst is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at the University of Oklahoma with the American Organ Institute. He also received his Master of Music degree in 2017 from OU. Prior to his studies at OU, he attended Concordia University Wisconsin for his undergraduate degree in Parish Music. His previous organ professors include Dr. John Behnke and Dr. Damin Spritzer, and he is currently a student of Dr. John Schwandt. Stephen has been playing music for Lutheran worship services since he started organ lessons at the age of 14. He also has played concerts in various settings across the country. In addition to performing as a soloist, he has appeared as a collaborating artist with the OU Wind Symphony and the OU Symphony Band. Along with his new duties at Holy Trinity Lutheran, he also works as a graduate assistant for the American Organ Institute at the University of Oklahoma, where he helps to build and restore pipe organs.
